Winemaking:

The 2020 Lepp- David’s Vineyard Riesling was harvested when the flavours were fully developed and the acidity was just right. We hand harvested and whole cluster pressed in our gentle bladder press. Juice selection was made at the press pan to ensure there was not any over extraction of phenolic flavours from the grape skins. It was cold settled after pressing and then racked into stainless steel tank for a long, slow fermentation at cool temperatures. A light fining and filtration was carried out prior to bottling.

Appearance:

Pale straw with a clear hue.

Aromas:

Aromas of citrus fruits: lemon, lime and honeysuckle fill the glass. A bouquet of apple and pear follow and add complexity and intensity to this Riesling profile.

Palate:

Lemon and lime, green apple, pear and golden plum are layered with subtle texture and balance. A fruit forward wine supported by a tight focus, great acidity and refreshing palate. Secondary flavours of star fruit, honeydew melon and honeysuckle linger in the background.  A pleasant light bodied wine with a lingering.
